We have come a long way. From three part-time employees with a few small pieces of seal coating equipment to our current employee base of 90+ — and one of the most diverse customer bases in the region – Cottle’s Asphalt Maintenance Inc. (CAM) has come a long way indeed! Although we initially set our sights local and residential, the demand for our quality paving, site development, and civil contracting services has been phenomenal. For more than 40 years now, we have taken great pride in picking up the torch where others will not – or cannot – to meet our customers’ requests.
Sam Cottle founded Cottle’s Asphalt Sealing (as we were called then) as a part-time side business venture to supplement his full-time building construction job.
The business consisted of Sam, his pickup truck, and a small seal coating unit.
Sam accepted a Branch Manager/Estimator position with a larger construction company.
He spent 13 years estimating and managing projects throughout three states.
Sam’s son, Mike Cottle, expressed an interest in the seal coating business.
Cottle’s Asphalt Maintenance was renamed Cottle’s Asphalt Maintenance Inc. (or CAM Inc., as it is sometimes known today).
The business consisted of a few small pieces of equipment and three part-time employees.
Sam realized his true passion and left his full-time job to join the family business.
Small pavement repairs were added to our list of services.
For several years, we received many ongoing, pressing requests to add various types of paving work to our services.
We decided to expand and began offering a full range of paving services.
We registered as a PennDOT Business Partner and began the process of becoming a PennDOT Prequalified Construction Contractor.
We were approved as a PennDOT Prequalified Construction Contractor.
We began to expand our services to include state paving and bridge construction work.
Despite difficult economic times, by 2018 CAM Inc. grew to an employee base of 70+ with a dramatic increase in sales, as well.
Sam Cottle retired.
Mike Cottle takes over management as President and CEO.
