Keep up with your driveway!

When you have invested in your paved driveway, you want it to last for many years.  Just as you maintain your health for longevity, you have to maintenance your asphalt driveway.

Uh oh…a spill!

You may think that your asphalt driveway is invincible, but it isn’t!  All homeowners need to keep their driveway clean of oils, chemicals, and other harsh debris.  Furthermore, it is necessary to clean the surface of dirt to prevent the growth of weeds or trees.  If a spill should occur, be sure to have an absorbent on hand.  Otherwise, you can use a household detergent with degreaser and scrub it thoroughly with a nonmetallic brush and a rinse with water.

Keep it sealed

Seal coating is suggested a year after you have the work done.  You’ll benefit from sealing your driveway every few years, three to five, depending on the wear and tear from year to year.  Not only does this protect your paved area, it greatly helps the appeal of it as well.

Cracks aren’t wanted

If you notice any problem spots, be sure to get them filled in or repaired right away.  If you let minor cracks go, they will turn into a costly project down the road.  Depending on your climate, you can run into situations with the freezing and thawing of water in cracks.  Avoid this by inspecting your driveway throughout the seasons and take the steps to prevent driveway cracks.
